Financial Controller – Minimart / Convenience Stores
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Controller with over 3 years of experience in corporate finance, or audit to oversee the financial operations of our minimart and convenience store business. Prefer candidate having experience in Retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Analysis
– Manage and monitor Profit & Loss (P&L) statements for each store and consolidated business unit.
– Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to improve profitability.
– Conduct variance analysis between actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
– Support and propose the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasting.
– Collaborate with store managers and operations teams to align financial plans with business goals.
– Develop financial models to support expansion and operational decisions.
- Capex & Opex Control
– Oversee capital expenditure (Capex) planning and approval processes.
– Monitor operating expenses (Opex) and ensure cost efficiency across stores.
- Reporting & Compliance
– Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
– Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Process Improvement & Systems
– Implement and improve financial controls, procedures, and systems.
– Support ERP system integration with financial reporting tools.
– Drive automation and digitization of financial workflows.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
– Work closely with operations, procurement, and HR to align financial strategies.
- New stores opening
– Prepare feasibility study / business case for new stores.
– Evaluate ROI for new store openings, renovations, and equipment purchases.
- Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Corporate Finance, Accounting, or Audit (Master’s or CPA is a plus).
– Minimum 3 years of experience in financial controlling, preferably in retail or FMCG.
– Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management, and store-level financials.
– Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and ERP systems.
– Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
