MM Mega Market Organizes the Environment Day “Junk In Joy Out”
Over three days from November 29th to December 1st at MM Mega Market An Phu, District 2, Thu Duc City, MM Mega Market Vietnam (“MMVN”), in collaboration with strategic partners – Tetra Pak Vietnam, TBC-Ball, O-I BJC, Alta Group, and Vietnam Recycling Organization, organize the Environmental Day “Junk In Joy Out”.
This event presents MM Mega Market’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 and becoming a pioneering wholesaler and retailer with sustainable green innovations. MMVN has long been a pioneer in various environmental initiatives, from the “Say no to plastic bags” campaign, adopting the habit of using reusable and biodegradable shopping bags, supporting cardboard boxes for self-packaging, installing rooftop solar energy systems, and applying energy-efficient solutions.
In particular, we have developed collection points for electronic wastes, paper cartons, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and glass wastes at MMVN centers nationwide, aiming to raise awareness and encourage customers to join hands in proper waste sorting.
According to Ms. Tran Kim Nga, Corporate Development Director of MM Mega Market:
Raising customer awareness and maintaining the waste-sorting habits is a long-term and persistent effort. Currently, MM Mega Market is a leading retailer in developing a comprehensive waste collection and sorting at-source system, contributing to the efficient recycling cycle for wastes, reducing the number of wastes discharged into the environment, and avoiding soil and groundwater contamination.
Over three days, the Junk in Joy out featured experiential activities at 16 booths from MM Mega Market’s partners. In addition, MMVN also organized waste recycling workshops such as decorating glass bottles and plastic bottles, promising to motivate changes in consumption habits and enhance community awareness of recycling. Participants were encouraged to bring sorted waste to exchange for attractive gifts and discount vouchers from MM Mega Market, Masan, Coca-Cola, Binh Tay Food, Suntory PepsiCo, Joy Food, Indochina Saigon Inc., Turn Green, Duy Tan, AJE, Song Wol, Thanh Tu, Toshiba, Orro Home, Thien Long, Interflour, and Kinh Do-Mondelez.
Joining hands with suppliers reflects MM’s desire to inspire the local community to sort and recycle waste more wisely.
“We believe that waste sorting and recycling are not just a choice, but the responsibility of each individual in the journey to protect this planet. The “Junk in Joy out” is a meaningful social activity and a strong call to the community, especially the younger generation, about the responsibility of building a green lifestyle in Vietnam,” Ms. Tran Kim Nga added.
