On August 11th in Ho Chi Minh City, the Cooking contest with U.S. chicken took place at MM An Phu with the participation of 16 semi-professional chefs who are learning at prominent universities and vocational training centers such as HCMC University of Technology (HuTech), Saigon Tourist Hospitality College, and A Au Vocational Guidance School.<\/em><\/p>\n

Overview of the cooking contest<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hosted by the U.S. Poultry and Egg Export Association (USAPEEC), the nonprofit association representing and promoting the exports of U.S. poultry and eggs, this event serves as a platform to boost international trade and expand the global market for U.S. poultry and eggs. Owing to this cooking contest, USAPEEC aims to empower students and trainees from universities and vocational schools in Ho Chi Minh City to unveil their cooking artistry and create unique dishes with U.S. chicken.<\/p>\n

The cooking competition provides great opportunities for students at cooking training schools in Ho Chi Minh City<\/p>\n

In the morning, participants received mystery boxes and bought the necessary materials at MM Mega Market. Subsequently, the cooking showcase unfolded and encompassed a 75-minute session during the afternoon. Participants were asked to make two dishes using the mandatory ingredients in the mysterious box, serving as the main “protein”. One of the two dishes is required to feature a fusion of U.S. chicken and bean products (e.g., soybeans, tofu, etc.)<\/p>\n

The two most exceptional teams were meticulously selected by a judging panel with over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, led by Chef Norbert Ehrbar \u2013 Culinary Advisor of USAPEEC, and had the opportunity to attend the upcoming national cooking contest in Da Nang in September.<\/p>\n

The U.S. chicken products <\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. soybean products<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to data from the General Department of Customs, in the period 2021-22, Vietnam’s soybean import volume yielded 1.84 million tons, decreasing by 8.6% over the same period last year. The U.S. remains the second largest soybean supplier to Vietnam, constituting 32.3% of the total soybean market share.
